The question
Should an accurate shared signal be broadcast to everyone, delivered to a selected subset, privately assigned to one reader, or garbled?
What we found
- DD-C-0062: For every finite N at least 2 and interior accuracies p and q in the frozen access-gated follow/private model, full-precision shared evidence is binding-optimal for exactly one recipient when q>p, no recipients when q<p, and either zero or one recipient when q=p; every audience of size at least two is strictly worse.
- DD-C-0063: Within DD-013's symmetric garbling family with delivered accuracy g in the registered grid and 1/3<=g<=q, the binding audience optimum weakly dominates every garbled positive-audience design; equality occurs only at a full-precision one-recipient design when q>=p, and all other 2,520 registered garbling rows are strictly worse.
- DD-C-0064: With full public access and ex-ante choice between the registered follow-shared and follow-private modes, universal pooling—each role receives 1/N exactly when the team discovers—implements the binding-optimal reader-count correspondence for every finite N at least 2 and interior p,q, is strict when p differs from q, is ex-post budget balanced against the unit discovery prize, and needs no external subsidy.
- DD-C-0065: In DD-013's 1,050 registered audience settings and 4,025 voluntary profiles, the voluntary weak-equilibrium correspondence differs from binding use in 656 settings, permits excessive use relative to the global binding optimum in 273, and has welfare-relevant multiplicity in eight; all 70 insufficient-use settings have zero audience, so no positive audience has voluntary equilibrium use below the global optimum on this grid.
